General Application of High Build (Brush Applied)

These are general application guidelines for most substrates including asphalt, old felt,

timber deck, metal & concrete , for specific specifications please contact our technical
helpline 01948 841880

Liquid Rubber requires no Flames, no Torches, and no primer, is cold applied and solvent
free hence Liquid Rubber is extremely user friendly on site and during application.

Preparation

Check weather conditions to ensure dry day. Do not apply below 5 degree C
Roof surface should be clean, dry and structurally sound and well secured and free of all
loose material.
LRS recommend that a pressure washer is used to clean all surfaces which are to be
treated.
Eliminate all surface water by thoroughly brushing down the surface.
Remove blisters allowing retained moisture to escape prior to repairing as below.
Application can proceed once the roof is dry.
N.B. Liquid Rubber can be applied to a damp - BUT NOT WET - surface.
Damp is visually apparent but the surface is dry to the touch.

Porous Surfaces

When applying to a porous surface LRS recommend a LiquidRubber “Flood Coat” to ensure
substrate is sealed. This should be Brush & Roller applied in one coat (coverage 1ltr approx
4 -5 m2). If you are unsure if “Flood Coat” is required please contact our technical team.

Cracks, Joint, Blisters & Detailing

Ensure surface cracks, old blisters and voids are filled using Liquid Rubber “Trowel” Grade,
curing times will vary depending on size of gap filled.
Reinforce all joints, cracks and old blisters using Liquid Rubber “Geo-textile” embedded in
Liquid Rubber “High Build “, repeat along all up-stands and internal angles ensuring a
smooth, wrinkle free application.

Application of the Membrane

Liquid Rubber “High Build” can be applied directly from the container using brush, roller or
squeegee. Materials should be applied in 2 coats of 1litre per m2 per coat applied evenly.
The 2nd coat can be applied when the 1st coat has become touch dry and tacky.
The 2nd Coat is usually touch dry in 1-4 hrs dependant on conditions but will continue to
bond over 72 hours
N.B During inclement weather it may be advisable to allow 24hrs between applications.

Coverage

Apply a total of 2 litres per m2. This should be applied in 2 separate coats of 1 litre per m2.
Spray Grade “Instant Set” Application - Please consult our specialist helpline on 01948
841 877
General Application of Top Coat - Over High Build or Spray Grade
There is an option to finish using a grey top coat. This should be applied in a single coat
over the 2 layers of “High Build” already applied. Apply using brush or roller at a rate of ½ ltr
per 1m2.

Cleaning tools after use.

Liquid Rubber can be removed whilst it is wet from brush or roller using water.
Whilst these specifications are based on expert technical knowledge and practical
experience, we cannot assume responsibility for any work as the ultimate result depends
on factors beyond our direct control.
Standard codes of roofing practice should be followed. All measurements are
approximations.
